<title>Create and manage host aggregates</title>
<para>Host aggregates enable administrative users to assign
key-value pairs to groups of machines.</para>
<para>Each node can have multiple aggregates and each aggregate can
have multiple key-value pairs. You can assign the same key-value
pair to multiple aggregates.</para>
<para>The scheduler uses this information to make scheduling
decisions. For information, see <link
xlink:href="http://docs.openstack.org/trunk/config-reference/content/section_compute-scheduler.html">
<citetitle>Scheduling</citetitle></link>.</para>
<procedure>
<title>To create a host aggregate</title>
<step>
<para>Log in to the dashboard.</para>
<para>Choose the <guilabel>admin</guilabel> project from the
<guilabel>CURRENT PROJECT</guilabel> drop-down list.</para>

<para>On the <guilabel>Admin</guilabel> tab, click the
<guilabel>Host Aggregates</guilabel> category.</para>
</step>
<step>
<para>Click <guibutton>Create Host Aggregate</guibutton>.</para>
</step>

<para>In the <guilabel>Create Host Aggregate</guilabel> window,
enter or select the following values:</para>

when you launch an instance.</para>
